This document references existing quality and test methodologies for recycled PVC to be used in PVC-U profiles for windows and doors.

It contains a description of the controlled loop as such, the definition of those material transformation steps which are relevant for product quality, in particular recycling input and output and profile manufacturing input and output.

Traceability tools are specified to characterize this loop as a controlled loop.

With regard to PVC waste treatment, the present document relates to existing standards such as EN 15343, EN 15346 and EN 15347.

With regard to semifinished and/or finished products, it refers to the European Standard PVC-U window profiles (see EN 12608‑1) and to the European Standards for windows and doors (see EN 14351‑1, EN 14351-2 and EN 16034).

The controlled loop treatment of PVC profiles will be aligned to the general understanding of life cycles as outlined in EN 15804.

This document specifies a screening test method for determining the resistance of geotextiles and geotextile-related products to hydrolysis by exposing test specimens to water at elevated temperatures, followed by an evaluation of the changes in properties resulting from such exposure. It is intended as a means of establishing a minimum acceptable level of durability.

The test is applicable to any geotextile and geotextile-related product susceptible to hydrolysis, in particular polyester and polyamide based materials, and in addition to the yarns from which these geotextiles are made.

This method is not intended for determining the resistance of geotextiles to hydrolysis under highly acid or alkaline conditions.

NOTE          Performance tests to predict long-term lifetime or to compare products of different polymers or of similar polymers with differing structures can be based on the same method but with a wider range of temperatures and durations.

This document specifies requirements for ten classes, four grades and seven types of wire- or textile-reinforced hydraulic hoses and hose assemblies of nominal sizes ranging from 5 to 102. Each class has a single maximum working pressure for all sizes.

They are suitable for use with:

    oil-based hydraulic fluids HH, HL, HM, HR and HV as defined in ISO 6743‑4 at temperatures ranging from −40 °C to +100 °C for types AS, AC, BS and BC hoses and from −40 °C to +120 °C for types CS, CC and DC hoses;

    water-based fluids HFC, HFAE, HFAS and HFB as defined in ISO 6743‑4 at temperatures ranging from −40 °C to +70 °C;

    water at temperatures ranging from 0 °C to +70 °C;

This document does not include requirements for the connection ends. It is limited to the performance of hoses and hose assemblies. The hose assembly maximum working pressure is governed by the lowest maximum working pressure of the components.

NOTE       It is the responsibility of the user, in consultation with the hose manufacturer, to establish the compatibility of the hose with the fluid to be used.

This document describes the requirements of the sweating manikin and the test procedure used to measure the water vapour resistance of a clothing ensemble, as it becomes effective for the wearer in practical use in a defined environment, with the wearer either standing or moving. This water vapour resistance, among other parameters, can be used to determine the effect of clothing on the physiology of the wearer in specific climate/activity scenarios.

This document specifies a method for determining the angle of recovery of fabrics from creasing. The results obtained by this method for textile fabrics of very different kinds cannot be compared directly.

Attention is drawn to the fact that for some types of fabrics, the limpness, thickness and tendency to curl of the specimen may give rise to very ill-defined crease recovery angles, and therefore an unacceptable lack of precision in making measurements. Many wool and wool mixture fabrics come under this heading.

This document specifies a method, using formic acid and zinc chloride, to determine the mass percentage of viscose or certain types of cupro or modal or lyocell, after removal of non-fibrous matter, in textiles made of mixtures of

—    viscose or certain types of the cupro or modal or lyocell fibres

with

—    flax fibres.

If a cupro or modal fibre is found to be present, a preliminary test should be carried out to see whether it is soluble in the reagent.

This document is not applicable to mixtures in which the flax fibre has suffered extensive chemical degradation, nor when the viscose, cupro, modal or lyocell fibre is rendered incompletely soluble by the presence of certain permanent finishes or reactive dyes that cannot be removed completely.

This document specifies a method for determining crease recovery angle of fabric specimen while placing it in such a way that the folded line is vertical to horizontal plane for a specified time after removal of creasing load.

This document is applicable for all kinds of textile fabrics.

This international standard specifies two categories of method for the determination of the vinyl acetate (VAC) content of Ethylene/vinyl acetate (EVAC) copolymer, for use in the designation of such copolymers in accordance with ISO 21301-1:2019.One category is referred to as “reference methods”, the other as “test methods”.

The “reference methods” are used to calibrate the method used for the determination of the vinyl acetate content of ethylene/vinyl acetate copolymers.

The "test methods" are other methods which can be used for the determination if they are calibrated using one of the reference methods described in clause 4 provided they show a certain permissible repeatability.

1.1  This part of ISO 527 specifies the test conditions for the determination of the tensile properties of isotropic and orthotropic fibre-reinforced plastic composites, based upon the general principles given in part 1.

Unidirectionally reinforced materials are covered by Part 5.

1.2  The methods are used to investigate the tensile behaviour of the test specimens and for determining the tensile strength, tensile modulus, Poisson's ratios and other aspects of the tensile stress/strain relationship under the defined conditions.

1.3  The test method is suitable for use with the following materials:

—    fibre-reinforced thermosetting and thermoplastic composites incorporating non-unidirectional reinforcements such as mats, woven fabrics, woven rovings, chopped strands, combinations of such reinforcements, hybrids, rovings, short or milled fibres or preimpregnated materials (prepregs) (for directly injection-moulded specimens, see specimen 1A in ISO 527-2);

—    combinations of the above with unidirectional reinforcements and multidirectional reinforced materials constructed from unidirectional layers, provided such laminates are symmetrical (for materials with completely, or mainly, unidirectional reinforcements, see ISO 527-5);

—    finished products made from these materials.

The reinforcement fibres covered include glass fibres, carbon fibres, aramid fibres and other similar fibres.

1.4  The method is performed using specimens machined from a test panel made in accordance with ISO 1268 or by equivalent methods, or from finished and semi-finished products with suitable flat areas.

1.1  This part of ISO 527 specifies the test conditions for the determination of the tensile properties of unidirectional fibre-reinforced plastic composites, based upon the general principles given in Part 1.

1.2  The methods are used to investigate the tensile behaviour of the test specimens and for determining the tensile strength, tensile modulus, Poisson's ratios and other aspects of the tensile stress/strain relationship under the conditions defined.

1.3  The test method is suitable for all polymer matrix systems reinforced with unidirectional fibres and which meet the requirements, including failure mode, set out in this part of ISO 527.

The method is suitable for composites with either thermoplastic or thermosetting matrices, including preimpregnated materials (prepregs). The reinforcements covered include carbon fibres, glass fibres, aramid fibres and other similar fibres. The reinforcement geometries covered include unidirectional (i.e. completely aligned) fibres and rovings and unidirectional fabrics and tapes.

The method is not normally suitable for multidirectional materials composed of several unidirectional layers at different angles (see ISO 527 4).

1.4  The method is performed using one of two different types of test specimen, depending on the direction of the applied stress relative to the fibre direction (see Clause 6) and depending on the application of end tabs..

This part of EN 351 establishes a classification of preservative-treated wood in terms of preservative penetration and gives guidance on a classification of retention. These shall be used as a basis for specifying preservative treatments for particular products.

This part of EN 351 provides terminology to be used by the specifier when preparing a preservative treatment specification or product standard. It is not a treatment specification in itself.

This part of EN 351 is applicable to the production of preservative-treated solid wood, including glued laminated timber, suitable for use in those service conditions defined by the use classes in EN 335. It does not apply to any subsequent examination of treated wood in service.

This part of EN 351 is applicable to the protection of wood against attack by wood-destroying and wood-disfiguring fungi, insects and marine organisms.

NOTE          Protection against wood-disfiguring fungi is an optional property verified by testing in accordance with EN 599‑1.

This part of EN 351 does not consider other properties of treated wood, for example odour, compatibility with other materials, such as corrosivity of fasteners. Nor does it consider any properties from the health, safety and environmental point of view.

This part of EN 351 does not apply to wood to be treated with formulations which are applied to timber in service to eliminate or control an existing fungal or insect infestation, or the prevention of attack by sapstain fungi, or insects in green timber.

Annex A (informatives) provides a decision process for defining preservative treatment requirements.

Annex B (informative) gives an example of the marking system.

This part of EN 351 gives guidance on the general procedures to be used in obtaining samples of preservative-treated wood for the determination of penetration and retention of wood preservative. It also gives guidance on how to measure the penetration and retention of a wood preservative in the treated wood.

This part of EN 351 is applicable to the production of preservative-treated solid wood, including glued laminated timber, suitable for use in those service conditions defined by the use classes in EN 335.

This part of EN 351 is not applicable to preservative-treated wood in service. However, the sampling guidance provided within this part of EN 351 may be applied for the subsequent examination of treated wood in service.

Annex A (informative) provide a selection of number of sampling units.

Annex B (informative) provides examples of retention measurements.

This document specifies a method, by measuring the amount of carbon dioxide evolved, for the determination of the degree of aerobic biodegradability of plastic materials, including those containing formulation additives. The test material is exposed in a synthetic medium under standardized laboratory conditions to an inoculum from activated sludge under aerobic, mesophilic conditions.

If an unadapted activated sludge is used as the inoculum, the test result can be used to assess the aerobic biodegradation processes which occur in a waste water treatment plant environment. If a mixed or pre-exposed inoculum is used, the method can be used to investigate the potential biodegradability of a test material.

The conditions used in this document do not necessarily correspond to the optimum conditions allowing maximum biodegradation to occur, but this test method is designed to measure the biodegradation of plastic materials and give an indication of their potential biodegradability.

The method enables the assessment of the biodegradation to be improved by calculating a carbon balance (optional, see Annex C).

The method applies to the following materials:

—    natural and/or synthetic polymers, copolymers or mixtures thereof;

—    plastic materials which contain additives such as plasticizers, colorants or other compounds;

—    water-soluble polymers;

—    materials which, under the test conditions, do not inhibit the microorganisms present in the inoculum. Inhibitory effects can be determined using an inhibition control or by another appropriate method (see, for example, ISO 8192[1]). If the test material is inhibitory to the inoculum, a lower test concentration, another inoculum or a pre-exposed inoculum can be used.

This document specifies an oven-drying method for the determination of the dry matter content in suspensions of cellulosic nanomaterials. The procedure is applicable to cellulosic nanomaterial suspensions which do not contain any appreciable quantities of materials other than water that are volatile at the temperature of 105 °C ± 2 °C. It is used, for example, in the case of cellulosic nanomaterial suspensions samples taken for chemical and physical tests in the laboratory, when a concurrent determination of dry matter content is required.

NOTE 1:  ISO 638-1 [1] specifies the total dry matter content of paper, board, paper and board for recycling and cellulosic nanomaterials in solid form; ISO 287 [2] specifies the determination of moisture content of a lot of paper and board; ISO 4119 [3] specifies the determination of stock concentration of aqueous pulp suspensions; ISO 801 (all parts) [4] specifies the determination of saleable mass in lots.

NOTE 2:  This document determines the total dry matter content of the sample, including any dissolved solids. If only the cellulosic material content free of dissolved solids is desired, dissolved solids should be removed prior to measuring the dry matter content e.g. by washing or dialysis, taking care to retain all cellulosic material.
