This document specifies the method of testing the knowledge and skill of a welder who is required to carry out welds on thermoplastics in new constructions and repair work.

The skill examination of a welder is an essential condition for the assurance of the quality of the welding work.

The application of this document guarantees that the examination is carried out according to a uniform test procedure.

This document applies when the contractor or the authorities responsible for the application require it.

Gas and water utility network industries with alternative qualification programmes are excluded from this document.

This document applies to the following welding processes:

—    hot gas welding: round nozzle, high speed nozzle, wedge;

—    extrusion welding;

—    heated tool welding: butt, saddle, socket, wedge;

—    electrofusion welding: socket, saddle;

—    solvent welding: socket.

This document applies to the welding of the following products:

—    sheet;

—    pipe;

—    fittings;

—    lining membrane.

This document covers the welding of the following groups of materials:

a)     for sheets, pipes and fittings:

—    group 1: PVC (including all kinds of PVC-U, PVC-C) or ABS;

—    group 2: PP (including all kinds of PP);

—    group 3: PE (including all kinds of PE);

—    group 4: PVDF;

—    group 5: ECTFE or PFA or FEP;

b)    for lining membranes and flooring:

—    group 6: PVC-P;

This document, in conjunction with ISO 11298‑1, specifies requirements and test methods for cured-in-place pipes and fittings used for the renovation of water supply networks which transport water intended for human consumption, including raw water intake pipelines.

It applies to independent (fully structural, class A) and interactive (semi structural, class B) pressure pipe liners, as defined in ISO 11295, which do not rely on adhesion to the existing pipeline. It applies to the use of various thermosetting resin systems, in combination with compatible fibrous carrier materials, reinforcement, and other process-related plastics components (see 5.1).

It does not include requirements or test methods for resistance to cyclic loading or the pressure rating of CIPP liners where passing through bends, which are outside the scope of this document.

It is applicable to cured-in-place pipe lining systems intended to be used at a service temperature of up to 25 °C.

NOTE       For applications operating at service temperatures greater than 25 °C guidance on re-rating factors can be supplied by the system supplier.

This document specifies the properties of piping system components made from glass-reinforced thermosetting plastics (GRP) based on unsaturated polyester resin (UP). It is suited for all types of water supply, drainage and sewerage with or without pressure. Types of water supply include, but are not limited to, raw water, irrigation, cooling water, potable water, salt water, sea water, penstocks in power plants, processing plants and other water-based applications. This document is applicable to GRP UP piping systems, with flexible or rigid joints with or without end thrust load-bearing capability, primarily intended for use in direct buried installations.

NOTE 1       For the purpose of this document, the term polyester resin (UP) also includes vinyl-ester resins (VE).

NOTE 2       Piping systems conforming to this document can also be used for non-buried applications, provided the influence of the environment and the supports are considered in the design of the pipes, fittings and joints.

NOTE 3       This document can also apply for other installations, such as slip-lining rehabilitation of existing pipes.

NOTE 4       This document is also referenced in ISO 25780, which specifies requirements for GRP-pipes used for jacking installation.

The requirements for the hydrostatic pressure design of pipes referring to this document meet the requirements of ISO/TS 20656-1 and the general principle for the reliability of structures detailed in ISO 2394 and in EN 1990. These International Standards provide procedures for the harmonization of design practices and address the probability of failure, as well as possible consequences of failures. The design practices are based on a partial safety factor concept, as well as on risk management engineering.

This document is applicable to pipes, fittings and their joints of nominal sizes from DN 50 to DN 4000 which are intended to be used for the conveyance of water at temperatures up to 50 °C, with or without pressure. In a pipework system, pipes and fittings of different nominal pressure and stiffness ratings may be used together. Clause 4 specifies the general aspects of GRP UP piping systems intended to be used in the field of drainage or sewerage with or without pressure.

Clause 5 specifies the characteristics of pipes made from GRP UP with or without aggregates and/or fillers. The pipes may have a thermoplastics or thermosetting resin liner. Clause 5 also specifies the test parameters for the test methods referred to in this document.

Clause 6 specifies the characteristics of fittings made from GRP UP, with or without a thermoplastics or thermosetting resin liner, intended to be used in the field of drainage and sewerage. Clause 6 specifies the dimensional and performance requirements for bends, branches, reducers, saddles and flanged adaptors. Clause 6 covers requirements to prove the structural design of fittings. It is applicable to fittings made using any of the following techniques:

—    fabrication from straight pipes;

—    moulding by

1)    filament winding,

2)    tape winding,

3)    contact moulding, and

4)    hot or cold compression moulding.

Clause 7 is applicable to the joints to be used in GRP UP piping systems to be used for the conveyance of surface water and sewerage, both buried and non-buried. It covers requirements to prove the design of the joint. Clause 7 specifies type test performance requirements for the following joints as a function of the declared nominal pressure rating of the pipeline or system:

a)     socket-and-spigot (including double-socket) joints or mechanical joints;

b)    locked socket-and-spigot joints;

c)     cemented or wrapped joints;

d)    bolted flange joints.

This document specifies a general test procedure for quantification of the spontaneous heat generation from solid biofuel pellets using isothermal calorimetry.

This document further:

—    specifies a screening test procedure for wood pellets using an instrument temperature of 60 °C,

—    establishes procedures for sampling and sample handling of solid biofuel pellets prior to the analysis of spontaneous heat generation, and

—    gives guidance on the applicability and use of isothermal calorimetry for calculation of the net reaction rate of the heat producing reactions of solid biofuel pellets.

The test procedure given in this document quantifies the thermal power (heat flow) of the sample during the test, it does not identify the source of self-heating in the test portion analysed.

Data on spontaneous heat generation determined using this document is only associated with the specific quality and age of the sample material. The results are product specific.

This document is applicable to solid biofuel pellets only.

The information derived using this document is for use in quality control and in hazard and risk assessments related to the procedures given in ISO/DIS 20024:2019.

This document specifies a qualitative and quantitative procedure to determine the composition of animal hair fibre blends by LC-MS without protein reduction.

The composition of non-animal hair fibres can be measured by ISO 1833‑ series; then both results are combined to determine the whole composition of fibres.

The method is based on a preliminary identification of all fibres in the blend on the basis of their morphology, by light microscopy. In case of fibres of the same animal species are present (e.g. blends of cashmere and mohair), the method is not applicable and the quantitative analysis can be performed using microscopical analysis (e.g. ISO 17751‑ series).

This document defines quality and test methodologies for recycled PVC to be used in PVC window profile systems.

It contains a description of the controlled loop as such, the definition of those material transformation steps which are relevant for product quality, in particular recycling input and output and profile manufacturing input and output.

Traceability tools are specified to characterize this loop as a controlled loop.

With regard to PVC waste treatment, the present document relates to existing standards such as EN 15343, EN 15346 and EN 15347

With regard to semifinished and/or finished products, it refers to the European Standard for un-plasticized PVC window profiles (see EN 12608‑1) and to the European harmonized standard for windows and doors (see EN 14351‑1).

This document specifies a method for the determination of the bursting strength of rubber - or plastics - coated fabrics, using one of two types of diaphragm bursting tester, designated type A and B, both operated by hydraulic pressure. The type A test machine is applicable to materials having bursting strengths ranging from 350 kPa to 5 500 kPa and the type B test machine is applicable to materials of bursting strengths ranging from 70 kPa to 1 400 kPa.

This document defines a test method for security of attachment of functional and decorative buttons to clothing including garments such as gloves, hats, scarves, hosiery, ties, and textile belts.

This document does not apply to:

a)     child care articles;

b)    shoes, boots and similar footwear;

c)     toys (see NOTE 2);

d)    other articles sold with clothing.

NOTE 1       The above items are covered by other CEN Technical Committees and as such are out of scope of this document.

NOTE 2       Toy disguise costumes including carnival costumes are examples of clothing which are also toy and fall within the scope of the Toy Safety Directive.

The scope of this standard is limited to sewn-on button, toggle buttons and tack buttons.

This International Standard specifies a method for the determination of the mass per unit area and five methods (Method A to Method E) for the determination of the fibre mass per unit area of moulding compounds and prepregs.

Method A: Extraction by soxhlet

Method B: Extraction by immersion in solvent in a beaker

Method C: Decomposition by loss ignition

Method D: Extraction by wet combustion

Method E: Method by calculation

This International Standard is applicable to the following types of material:

—    moulding compound and preimpregnated unidirectional sheet, tape, fabric and mats.

—    prepregs in which any type of reinforcement (aramid, carbon, glass, etc.) and any type of matrix (thermosetting or thermoplastic) has been used.

Typically, reinforcement fibres are coated with sizing or finishes. These normally dissolve with the resin and are, therefore, included in the resin content.

This International Standard is not applicable to the following types of prepregs:

—    these containing reinforcements which are soluble (or partly soluble) in the solvents used to dissolve the resin.

This document specifies the dimensions, the method of sampling, the preparation of the test specimens and the conditions for performing the tensile test in order to determine the short-term tensile welding factor.

A tensile test may be used in conjunction with other tests (e.g. bend, tensile creep, macro) to assess the performance of welded assemblies, made from thermoplastics materials.

The test is applicable to welded assemblies made from thermoplastics materials filled or unfilled, but not reinforced, irrespective of the welding process used.

This document provides the requirements for the tests made on welded thermoplastics semi-finished products.

The selection of the appropriate test method(s) should be made in accordance with the particular type and application of welded product.

The test results depend on the conditions of manufacture for the test specimen and on the test conditions. They can therefore only be related to the behaviour of the product or can only be used for designing a structure, if the test conditions can be related to the service conditions.
