This document specifies three methods for the determination of the biomass content in solid recovered fuels: the 14C content method, the selective dissolution and the manual sorting methods.

A value of 10 % biogenic carbon can be considered as the lower range of application of 14C method by LSC.

The SDM method is applicable for the biomass percentage content between 10 % and 90 %.

This document specifies a method for the determination of total content of carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen and sulfur in solid recovered fuels by instrumental method. Depending on the amount of test portion, micro or macro instrumental apparatus are used.

This method is applicable for concentrations on dry matter basis of C > 0,1 %, N > 0,1 %, H > 0,1 % and S > 0,05 %.

This document establishes a method for determination of the thermal conductivity of solid unfilled and filled or fibre reinforced plastics and composites by means of Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC).

It is applicable for materials with thermal conductivities of up to 1 W/(m⋅K).

This document specifies the method and conditions of test for the determination of the breaking force and elongation at break of individual fibres in the conditioned or wet state.

The determination of these fibre properties, when carried out on different kinds of testing equipment, will not generally give identical results. To avoid such differences, this document is restricted to the use of constant-rate-of-extension testing apparatus.

It is applicable to all fibres, including crimped fibres, provided that the length of fibre available enables the gauge length specified in this document to be used.

NOTE       For natural fibres (especially wool and cotton) the breaking test most commonly performed is that of bundles of fibres (see ISO 3060 and IWTO 32-82)

This document specifies requirements for three types of textile-reinforced thermoplastics hoses and hose assemblies of nominal size from 3,2 to 25. Each type is divided into two classes dependent on electrical conductivity requirements.

They are suitable for use with:

—    oil-based hydraulic fluids HH, HL, HM, HR and HV as defined in ISO 6743‑4 at temperatures ranging from −40 °C to +93 °C;

—    water-based fluids HFC, HFAE, HFAS and HFB as defined in ISO 6743‑4 at temperatures ranging from 0 °C to +60 °C

—    water at temperatures ranging from 0 °C to +60 °C.

This document does not include requirements for end fittings. It is limited to the performance of hoses and hose assemblies.

NOTE          It is the responsibility of the user, in consultation with the hose manufacturer, to establish the compatibility of the hose with the fluid to be used.

This document specifies two methods for measuring the stiffness and one method for the determination of the flexibility of rubber and plastics hoses and tubing when they are bent to a specific radius at sub-ambient temperatures.

Method A is suitable for non-collapsible rubber and plastics hoses and tubing with a bore of up to and including 25 mm. This method provides a means of measuring the stiffness of the hose or tubing when the temperature is reduced from a standard laboratory temperature.

Method B is suitable for rubber and plastics hoses and tubing with a bore of up to 100 mm and provides a means of assessing the flexibility of the hose or tubing when bent around a mandrel at a specified sub-ambient temperature. It can also be used as a routine quality control test.

Method C is suitable for rubber and plastics hoses and tubing with a bore of 100 mm and greater. This method provides a means of measuring the stiffness of the hose and tubing at sub-ambient temperatures. This method is only suitable for hoses and tubing which are non-collapsible.

This standard specifies a method for the automatic determination of the deformability of textile fabrics, including continuous-fibre reinforcement materials.

The method is suitable for use with fabrics (e.g. woven or knitted fabrics, non-wovens, non-crimp fabrics, fabrics made of glass rovings or untwisted carbon filament yarns intended for reinforced composite materials). When applying the method to multi-axial non-crimp fabrics, it shall be noted that the evaluation of the fibre orientation and gaps only incorporates the uppermost layer.

The fabrics could have been treated with powder binder.

This method is not applicable to resin impregnated fabrics.

This document specifies three methods for determining the resistance to vacuum of hoses and hose assemblies manufactured from plastic or rubber. Applicable dimensions of hoses for each method are as follows:

—    method A for hoses and hose assemblies of nominal size up to and including 80 ;

—    method B for hoses of nominal size greater than 80 ;

—    method C for hoses of all dimensions.

Methods A and B can also be used to check the adhesion of the lining to the reinforcement (delamination) in a length of hard-wall hose or hose assembly.

This part of ISO 17225 determines the fuel quality classes and specifications of graded wood chips. This part of ISO 17225 covers only wood chips produced from the following raw materials (see ISO 17225-1, Table 1):

•      1.1 Forest, plantation and other virgin wood

•      1.2 By-products and residues from wood processing industry

•      1.3.1 Chemically untreated used wood.

This standard covers only wood chips, which are produced with sharp tools, and does not cover hog fuel, which is produced with blunt tools.

This document provides principles and requirements for safe handling, treatment and storage of solid recovered fuels (SRF), prepared from non-hazardous waste, to be used for energy purposes. This document covers process stages from point of acceptance of material to point of delivery of SRF.

This document excludes fuels that are included in the scope of ISO/TC 238 Solid biofuels and ISO/TC 28 Petroleum products and related products of synthetic or biological origin.

It uses a risk-based approach to determine what safety measures should be considered.

Although unloading and loading of e.g. vessels, trains or trucks are included, the safety issues following the loading and transport itself are not.

This part of ISO 17225 determines the fuel quality classes and specifications of graded wood pellets for non-industrial and industrial use. This part of ISO 17225 covers only wood pellets produced from the following raw materials (see ISO 17225‑1, Table 1):

—    1.1 Forest, plantation and other virgin wood;

—    1.2 By-products and residues from wood processing industry;

—    1.3.1 Chemically untreated used wood.

Thermally treated biomass pellets (e.g. torrefied pellets) are not included in the scope of this part of ISO 17225. Torrefaction is a mild pre-treatment of biomass at a temperature between 200 °C to 300 °C.
